Peterborough – Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) will be going to MP Maryam Monsef (Peterborough–Kawartha) to demand the Liberal government follow through on their election promise of respecting public service workers.
When: March 27, 2019 at 1:30 p.m.
Where: MP Maryam Monsef’s office (417 Bethune St, Peterborough)
Since bargaining began nine months ago, PSAC’s teams have presented reasonable proposals to improve work-life balance, reduce precarious contract work, close wage gaps with the private sector, and ensure fair economic increases. Yet, for most of that time, the government has repeatedly delayed progress and resorted to making insulting offers, such as the November proposal for a two-year wage freeze.
“We are tired of this government’s lip service,” states Sharon DeSousa, PSAC Ontario Regional Executive Vice-President. “The government needs to recognize the value and service of these dedicated workers by negotiating a fair contract.”
