Greetings, In less than a year the Progressive Conservative government under Premier Doug Ford has initiated an intense assault on workers and our public services. Some of these attacks include: • Eliminating important labour legislation and benefits such as paid sick days, $15 minimum wage, equal pay for equal work and scheduling protections for part-time and shift workers, among others. • Elimination of free tuition for post-secondary education, cuts to OSAP and the conversion of many non-repayable grants to loans with interest. • Back to work legislation that forced the end of the York University strike and took away the Power Workers Union’s democratic right to be in a legal strike or lockout position • Plans to privatize parts of our healthcare system There is clearly a lot at stake and unions and community groups must continue to challenge these regressive changes. To do this, the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) has organized “Regional Activation Meetings” to train activists and union members on fighting back and building our capacity for resistance.
