Commemorative Medal Awarded to Souad (Sue) Soubra

The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal recognizes Canadians, who have devoted themselves to the well being of family, community and country. The Medal was created to honour Canadians whose duty and service to others exemplifies what it means to be Canadian.

On Friday, January 11th 2013 Sister Souad Soubra was awarded the prestigious medal in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the Throne.

Sister Soubra received the award for her tireless advocacy of equity for all federal workers, particularly those who identify with employment equity groups. Her efforts have helped preserve a good working environment for the members of her Component, Government Services Union (GSU) and her Local GSU 00027.  Sister Soubra is also a member of the PSAC Ontario Regional Council representing Members with Disabilities.
