Sisters and Brothers,

The world has lost one of the greatest activists of our time, Nelson Mandela. Yesterday at the age of 95, Mandela passed away, leaving a legacy that has, and will continue to inspire the world.

From the injustices of the apartheid system, rose a leader whose convictions were not diminished even in the face of decades of imprisonment. Advocating for racial equality, economic justice and peace; Mandela became the first black President of South Africa in 1994.

Conservative MPs want to weaken unions. They want to pass a law that will open up our collective agreements. They want to take out our union security clauses.

The most important thing we can do to combat these attacks is educate and engage thousands of members about the gains our union has made and the threats we face.

PSAC has launched a member-to-member, one-to-one conversation campaign. Member campaigners are speaking to other members, face-to-face across the country.

The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) is inviting Locals to attend regional seminars as part of its Together Fairness Works campaign. The purpose of the seminar is to provide information about the campaign and to train locals in initiating member-to-member education.
