It provides an historical and structural overview of the union, introduces participants to the collective agreement and gives them a chance for hands-on practice in problem-solving. PSAC Sudbury Regional Office, 2-754 Falconbridge Road, Sudbury SATURDAY & SUNDAY November 3 & 4, 2018 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (both days) Level 1 provides front-line advocacy skills to union members. Participants will receive an insight into the operations of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, as well as an understanding of the rights and obligations of injured workers. At the end of the training, participants will be able to assist injured workers in the steps of filing claims, completing forms, receiving benefits and service entitlements, and accident prevention protocols.

LOCATION: Sudbury Regional Office-2-754 Falconbridge Rd, Sudbury, P3A 5X5 Saturday & Sunday - October 27th, 2018 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (both days) EMPLOYMENT EQUITY IN THE WORKPLACE (2 DAYS) Objectives: • Be able to articulate what employment equity is and why it is important; • Know the basic legal framework; • Have a sense of the employer and union roles with respect to employment equity and where stewards fit into the picture; • Be equipped to dispel commonly held myths about employment equity; • Be ready to take action in the workplace to make employment equity a priority.

Saturday & Sunday - September 8 & 9, 2018 Location: West Nipissing Public Library Auditorium, Suite 107, 225 Holditch Street, Sturgeon Falls Time: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Both Days) Deadline: Friday - August 31st, 2018 TALKING UNION BASICS (TUB) (2 DAYS) This course is presented in two parts on two separate days and Part I is a prerequisite for Part II. This is the Union's key introductory course. If you have wondered what it means to be a Union member, how the PSAC works, and what happens to your dues dollars, then Talking Union Basics provides answers to these questions.

Saturday & Sunday April 28 & 29th, 2018 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. On day one, participants will; look at power relationships and how they affect the workplace, identify ways of effectively working across diversity, identify elements that make up a respectful workplace, discuss what is needed in order to establish and maintain a more respectful workplace, and identify and practice skills and methods for dealing effectively with workplace conflict.
