Injured Workers – Day of Action on June 1st at Queen's Park

June 1, 2019
Queen's Park, Toronto, ON (Map)

Greetings,

Week after week we hear announcements from the Ontario Progressive Conservative government on reckless cuts to our public services and social programs. For injured workers who were already struggling under the broken WSIB system, this government has made it even more difficult to get the compensation they deserve.

What:            Injured Workers Day of Action Rally

When:           Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11 am

Where:         Queen’s Park (111 Wellesley St W, Toronto)

           RSVP: https://www.facebook.com/events/587379061788603/.

It is important that we come together to demonstrate against the further deterioration of workers’ compensation and disability rights under this Ford government, some of which include:

  • The government in January of 2019 dropped the employer’s premium rates to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board by nearly 30 per cent
  • $16 million cut from the Occupational Health and Safety Program’s Prevention Office
  • Froze proactive workplace inspections

Let’s send a strong message to the government on June 1st that injured workers deserve respect.

In Solidarity,

Sharon DeSousa,

PSAC Ontario Regional Executive Vice-President
