Solidarity Request for Casino Woodbine Workers - Information Picket on June 29th

June 29, 2019
Casino Woodbine 555 Rexdale Ave, Etobicoke, ON (Map)

Greetings,

Our Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Casino Woodbine members (PSAC DCL 533) in Toronto could be in a labour dispute with their employer (Great Canadian Gaming Corporation) later this summer given the state of current negotiations.

I am requesting the assistance of members in the Greater Toronto Area to come out and support a one-day information picket action taking place on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at the Queen’s Plate.

The Queen’s Plate is Canada's oldest thoroughbred horse race and the busiest day for the Casino for the entire year. Therefore, we will be holding an information picket to let the patrons know what is happening with negotiations and the issues facing our members.

The information picket is scheduled from 11 am to 5 pm at the main entrance at Casino Woodbine at 555 Rexdale Blvd in Etobicoke.

As this is the busiest day of the year, most of our Woodbine members are scheduled to work this event and therefore we need the help of our larger membership to support and strengthen our picket lines.

If you are able to assist, please contact our PSAC staff representative Lori Walton at waltonl@psac-afpc.com or 647-417-0652.

In Solidarity,

Sharon DeSousa,

Regional Executive Vice-President – Ontario
