Kingston – On June 14, 2016, Commissionaires at CFB Kingston, represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Local 00818, overwhelmingly rejected the employer’s final offer.
In addition, Commissionaires have sent their employer a message by voting in favour of a strike, should the employer refuse to continue bargaining.
“Our members have stated again and again that they need paid sick days in this contract,” states Sharon DeSousa, PSAC Ontario Regional Executive Vice-President. “Our proposal on paid sick leave is cost neutral for the employer but they refuse to discuss this priority health issue concerning their workers.”
PSAC is willing to continue to bargain to achieve a fair contract for both parties, however, this means the employer must be willing to move on this issue.
PSAC has contacted a conciliator who will return to assist the parties this Monday and Tuesday (June 20-21, 2016) in an effort to reach a fair contract.
