Solidarity Against Violence

This past weekend, a PSAC member was physically attacked in London. Violence has no place in our society and this situation demonstrates the impacts racism, islamophobia and xenophobia have on an individual and on an entire community.

The belief that we are different from others is dangerous and manifests in discrimination and physical, emotional and psychological violence.

PSAC does not condone violence on any grounds. Our union believes everyone should be treated with respect no matter their origin, race, religion, sexual orientation or gender expression, ability, or class. We should all strive for a society that treats people with kindness, fairness and acceptance of diversity.

We condemn this attack and all forms of discrimination and hatred.

Let’s work together to ensure that our communities are safe and welcoming for everyone.

In Solidarity,

Sharon DeSousa, PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President - Ontario
