Timmins - The Union of Canadian Transportation Employees (UCTE), a Component of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), has issued a 72-hour strike notice for its members who work at the Timmins Victor M. Power Airport. As of Monday March 4, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. members will walk off the job and form a picket line at the airport.

Kingston – Plans to contract out cleaning services to private companies at Canadian Forces Bases (CFB) in Greenwood and Kingston have been shelved and the Department of National Defense (DND) has committed to creating a new process for future reviews. Union of National Defence Employees (UNDE) National President June Winger and PSAC Regional Executive Vice-Presidents Colleen Coffey (Atlantic) and Sharon DeSousa (Ontario) were pleased to learn this morning that the workers who clean on those bases will not be losing their jobs.

London – After two days of voting, in over six sessions, Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) at Western University have stood by their bargaining team and overwhelmingly voted “No” on their employer’s final offer.
Voting took place on April 11th and 12th, in which our members heard from their bargaining team and how this offer fell short in addressing their concerns. Primarily, the agreement failed to address the key issue of GTAs struggling to make real financial gains in the face of rising tuition and the cost of living.

Kingston – On March 9, 2018, following a coordinated organizing campaign, Queen’s University voluntarily recognized Professional Student Teaching Assistants in the Juris Doctor and Doctor of Medicine programs as falling within the existing Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) bargaining unit.

Toronto – 400 workers represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) who work for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) corporation Slots at Woodbine have secured a new collective agreement.
Workers had been locked-out by the OLG as of July 14, 2017, and had been picketing the Woodbine site for nearly 3 weeks.
PSAC’s bargaining team met with the OLG and a conciliation officer on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. After a lengthy day of negotiations, a tentative agreement was reached with the unanimous endorsement of our bargaining team.
