KINGSTON, Ont. - John MacLennan’s 18-year tenure as Union of National Defense Employees (UNDE) National President will close the same way it began – defending the rights of workers. MacLennan will join federal public service workers from across Kingston and the Islands in a mass rally to protest the Phoenix pay system fiasco. The rally will take place outside the office of Liberal MP Mark Gerretsen on August 2, 2017, followed by a farewell BBQ for MacLennan.

Toronto – Over 400 workers represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), and employed by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) corporation have been locked-out as of July 14, 2017.  “Where is the Liberal Government? Do we need to call this lockout a fundraiser before a Liberal shows up,” states Sharon DeSousa, PSAC Ontario Regional Executive Vice-President. “These 400 workers and their families deserve more from their government, a government that has claimed it wants to deal with precarious work.”

Toronto – Over 400 workers represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), and employed at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) corporation have been locked-out as of July 14, 2017. Picket lines have been set up at the site, with workers standing strong in the face of this multi-billion-dollar crown corporation. PSAC sent the Premier a letter on June 28, 2017, advising of the potential labour dispute, as well as the Minister of Finance and Minister of Labour. A response was never received.

Toronto – Over 400 workers employed at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) corporation are set to strike. The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), the union that represents these workers, requested a No Board Report from the Minister of Labour, who has set the legal strike/lock-out date of Friday, July 14, 2017 at 12:01 a.m. No meetings have been scheduled prior to this strike/lock-out deadline.

On May 31, 2017, Anishinabek Police Service (APS) officers who are represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) voted down the employer’s final offer vote conducted by the Ministry of Labour over three days (May 29-31). “We were surprised that the employer, instead of negotiating with us, went to the members with an offer that had even more cuts then what they had last agreed to at the bargaining table”, states Sharon DeSousa, PSAC Ontario Regional Executive Vice-President.

Sault Ste Marie – Workers at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming corporation (OLG) headquarters in Sault Ste Marie are attempting to achieve a fair first collective agreement. The Local joined the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) last year, and negotiations are reaching a critical point. PSAC filed for conciliation on May 3rd and we are currently waiting the appointment of a conciliation officer to assist negotiations going forward. To continue to support negotiations workers will be holding a rally at city hall.

Toronto –Workers employed at the Slots at Woodbine are rallying to demand a fair contract from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming corporation (OLG). As the OLG’s largest and most profitable facility, workers are demanding to be fairly compensated given the high cost of living in the city.

Angus, ON – The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) will be holding a demonstration outside of the Canadian Forces Base Borden over the continued problem-plagued, federal public service pay system known as Phoenix. When: Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 2:30pm Where: CFB Borden (Angus Gate) This demonstration comes just days before the one year anniversary of the government rolling out the Phoenix pay system (February 24th), and all the problems that have transpired because of it.

Point Edward, ON, December 9, 2016 - The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), which represents the 47 Blue Water Bridge workers that have been on strike for nearly three weeks, have reached a new agreement. Our negotiating team met with the employer yesterday, with the assistance of the Labour Board Conciliation officer, to reignite negotiations with the Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL). On December 8 at 6 p.m., a tentative agreement was reached.
