“The PSAC’s position all along has been that Bill C-377 was unconstitutional and a violation of privacy rights. We are pleased that the Liberal government has moved quickly to repeal Bills C-377 and C-525.”

“Both bills were seriously flawed, introduced without consultation with unions or employers and detrimental to the rights of workers,” said Robyn Benson, PSAC National President.

In the spirit of solidarity in struggle, PSAC recognizes and celebrates the important past and present contributions of Black people and people of African descent. We also acknowledge the discrimination, barriers and challenges that Black people continue to face in Canada.

In December 1995, the federal Parliament officially recognized February as Black History Month in Canada, following a motion introduced by Jean Augustine, the first Black woman elected to the House of Commons. The motion was carried unanimously.

The impact of domestic violence against women doesn’t stop at home. It affects workers and their workplaces. This was the main message at a recent women’s forum focusing on the issue of domestic violence.

“The evidence of a national survey conducted for the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) shows us this is an important issue that affects our members,” said PSAC national president Robyn Benson during the forum.
