Since 1999, September 23 has been celebrated around the world by members of the bisexual community and their allies to acknowledge bi persons and their contributions to society.

Bi Visibility Day was conceived as a response to the prejudice and marginalization felt by bi persons from the heterosexual and broader spectrum of the LGBT communities. Now, this day strives to increase awareness of the issues facing members of this community and provides an opportunity to celebrate their diversity.

PSAC members working at the Immigration and Refugee Board office in Calgary were recently told that their jobs will be abolished. The IRB is making these cuts despite the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis and calls for Canada to do more.

On September 14, 2015, Canada’s 17 federal public service unions filed a complaint with the International Labour Organization (ILO) against the Government of Canada for failing to comply with the international Convention that protects the right of workers to free collective bargaining.

If you are caring for a relative, particularly one with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia, you know that caregiving is a resource-intensive responsibility. 

Caregiving is especially taxing when you are also engaged in paid employment. It becomes a balancing act that often results in higher levels of work-life conflict, as well as emotional and physical strain.

A new survey is asking employed caregivers to share their experiences.

Nearly 400 workers at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s head office have chosen to unionize and join the PSAC family.

This comes after nearly 6 years of wage freezes and insecurity due to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) Corporation’s move to privatize the industry.

Our union, local 818 has been bargaining with the Corps of Commissionaires Kingston Division since February 2015. Negotiations stalled when the employer walked away from the bargaining table March 10, refusing to discuss paid sick leave for our military veterans.
