The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) recently released early findings of a project examining implementation of the CSA Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace standard.

The three-year Case Study Research Project follows 41 organizations across Canada to better understand how they and other workplaces are implementing the processes laid out in the National Standard on Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace standard developed by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). 

Following a case conference with the Ontario Superior Court last week, a new date for the hearing of our injunction application on C-59 has been set for March 1-2, 2016.

 A new Ekos poll commissioned by the Public Service Alliance of Canada shows that a large percentage of Canadians are opposed to cuts to public services and believe the cuts will affect the election result on October 19th.

The poll was conducted from October 2-11, 2015, and drew on a sample size of 5,064 Canadians of voting age (23, 836 were contacted) with a margin of error of 1.38. It revealed that Canadians are particularly concerned about cuts to food safety, border security and services for veterans. Some highlights:

The Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) will be holding a Workers of Colour Symposium onNovember 21, 2015 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, 123 Queen Street West, in the Civic Ballroom North.

The Symposium will allow a safe space for participants to discuss racism, discrimination, social and economic inequities in the labour movement, workplaces and our communities while accessing learning workshops that will assist individuals in developing the needed skills, tools and resources to participate fully in their workplaces and their unions. A key component of the symposium is the closing plenary where participants will develop an action plan “Creating
Change.”
