Updates

We have reviewed the final language in the collective agreement to make sure all the revisions are accurate and sent our feedback to the employer. Once all the corrections are made, we will sign and send it for printing, which should all be completed within a couple of weeks’ time.

Rest assured that we are working hard to get this done as quickly as possible and that we will keep you informed on the next steps.

Hello PSAC Ontario Young Worker Activists!

Are you interested in meeting other PSAC Ontario young activists and collaborating to shape our Union and the broader labour movement?

If so, please save the dates for the upcoming 2018 Young Worker Summit!

The Summit is scheduled to take place from October 24-26, 2018.

The new four-year collective agreement, which expires August 4, 2018, includes an updated definition of ‘family’, improved leave provisions, improved member protections, unchanged sick leave, and monetary compensation for members.

This no-concession contract finally delivers the respect deserved as law enforcement personnel. Since the FB group was created in 2007, the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and its Component, the Customs and Immigration Union (CIU) together have negotiated an over 48% increase in compensation for front-line officers. These are the largest increases for law enforcement personnel achieved by any union in Canada for the same period of time.

The report confirms that the government failed to adequately test the new system while they also ignored warnings from their own employees and the unions that represent them.

In its 2018 budget, the federal government promised “to address the real mental and emotional stress and unacceptable financial impacts” Phoenix has had on federal public service workers. That was over two months ago. While PSAC was encouraged by the uptick in discussions after the budget was released, progress has since stalled.
